One stubborn idea: renting here can be better.

Every renter in Uganda has the same story. The broker who asks for "transport" three times and shows you a house that looks nothing like the photos. The landlord you can only reach through a cousin. The deposit that simply vanishes.

We have lived all of it - as renters, as landlords, and as the people trying to keep the books straight.

Kyasina (legally registered as KYASINA ENTERPRISES LTD) started in Mbarara, where our founder spent more than a decade running a real estate business: filling units, chasing rent, juggling caretakers and recording everything in school exercise books. He was joined by a team that had built and scaled tech startups, and spent years in marketing and operations listening to what Ugandan customers actually want.

Over one long Saturday - and, honestly, several after it - we kept circling the same question: why is the biggest payment most Ugandans make every month still handled with paper, hearsay and luck?

Tenants could not trust listings. Landlords could not trust applicants. Everyone was paying a broker who added cost but not confidence, and neither side could hold the other accountable.

So we built the platform we wished existed. One place where every listing is real, every photo is verified in-app, every landlord is verified, every payment leaves a record, and nobody has to take a stranger's word for anything.

We called it Kyasina - and we run it the way we'd want our own homes handled.
